Buck Val’s Custom Ford® Bronco SMT10™ Monster Truck
Who likes monster trucks? Buck Val custom-built this one using the 1/10 scale 4WD Axial® SMT10™ Raw Builders Kit (AXI03020). He topped off its strong tube frame chassis with the Pro-Line® 1973 Ford® Bronco body. We love it!
It all began with the stock SMT10™ chassis, painted with Pro-Line Aluminum Airbrush Paint (PRO632600) for a distinctive look. Some details were added using Fluorescent Green (PRO632803) and a paint brush. Pro-Line 5” Power Stroke XT shocks (PRO627500) were added to all four corners to give it the travel and dual spring rate it deserves.
Next came the details! JE Designs makes engine sets for giving any build a perfect scale look. The radiator fans, battery, and supercharged engines are all accurately reproduced.
Broncos are iconic, so Buck chose to outfit the Axial SMT10 with the Pro-Line 1973 Ford Bronco body (PRO331360). The back camper was cut out for the Monster Truck look. He also cut out the side window and front grille and put in window nets and a custom front grille with a 4” LED light bar (PRO627601). He then added a hood cowl from the No Prep Drag Racing Set (PRO636800), splattered the body with Pro-Line Fluorescent Green (PRO632803), and finally painted the body with Metallic Charcoal (PRO636201) backed with Black (PRO632501). The rear body mount plate was made from a flat piece of polycarbonate and a small piece from a rear body post.
To give this custom monster truck the most unique look, Pro-Line Carbine Dually wheels (PRO278600) were added and painted to match the chassis. Interco® TSL Boggers (PRO1013314) tires were used in both front and rear for an aggressive stance. As the perfect finishing touch, Buck used a white paint pen to add lettering to the tires!
