SCX10

Durability, adjustability, and reliable performance on the trails are all proven characteristics of the Axial® SCX10™ platform and have made it the first choice of radio control rig for scale trailing and adventuring. Each edition of this off-road RC truck — from the original SCX10 through the SCX10 III — has introduced refinements for a variety of performance capabilities and scale looks to suit almost any RC off-road enthusiast.

SCX10

For more than a decade, the Axial® SCX10™ has been the staple vehicle platform for radio control scale trail adventurers around the world. Engineered for heavy-duty performance in off-road conditions, it meets the demands of RC scale trailing miles from home where you need reliability the most.

The realistic, high strength SCX10 C-channel chassis frame is made of durable steel, reinforced with cross bracing for rigidity and held together with all hex hardware. Realistic shock hoops with multiple shock mounting positions let you adjust your suspension for maximum performance. The simplified design makes maintenance and assembly quick and easy. A contoured skid plate significantly reduces hang-ups on rocky terrain when you’re off-road with your RC truck.

In most vehicles on the SCX10 platform, the chassis is designed with a 12.3” wheelbase length that can be adjusted to either 11.4” or 12.0” using optional link kits sold separately. Wheelbase adjustments can be made without sacrificing front-end suspension geometry, through simple removal and installation of the suspension links and changing the drive shaft length. Some vehicles on the SCX10 platform, such as the Jeep® JT Gladiator RC truck, extend the frame rails for a 13.9” wheelbase to accept a more scale body.

The axle design varies depending on the version of the SCX10 platform featured on a given Axial remote control rig. Some use AR44 front and rear axles with a single-piece design and molded truss for extreme durability. Integrated C-hubs and lockouts optimize performance and improve ground clearance. Metal dogbones, helical cut internal gears and high-quality bearings are all standard. SCX10 platform rigs using AR45 Portal Axles provide higher ground clearance and reduce the torque on other drivetrain components.

The SCX10 platform steering servo is mounted in the chassis, just as a full-size vehicle has its steering box located on the frame. WB8 HD Wildboar™ 3-piece front and rear driveshafts feature an updated design with a larger diameter cross pin (2x11mm) along with an M4 Screw Shaft (2mm hex drive) for strength. A center splined slider floats between each end and features added material to reduce flex and fatigue.

The front suspension geometry of the SCX10 is optimized to reduce bump steer, while the rear 4-link reduces torque twist. It also helps with steep off-camber climbs by having the proper amount of anti-squat and roll characteristics. Adjustable oil-filled coilover shocks with threaded shock bodies allow you to tune the dampening rate.

SCX10 platform transmission designs, like the axles, vary by vehicle. The ultra compact AX10™ transmission allows for a wide range of gearing choices. The overall ratio can be adjusted using different pinion and spur gear choices to allow super high speed or competition level crawling speed. Other SCX10 vehicles include a transmission set up with a DIG function for locking the rear axle from the transmitter — giving you the tighter turning radius of front wheel drive on demand. Or you can set up the vehicle for a two-speed transmission by taking the included Micro Dig Servo and moving it to the two-speed linkage. All SCX10 transmission options include a full set of ball bearings and all-metal internal gears for strength and durability.
