Custom Builds - Bailey Cole Bronco
Build by Sean Barrett
This build started by taking the kit out of the box and building the transmission. I painted the transmission and changed the gears to work with the straight axle kit.
I proceeded to build out the chassis I used the stainless M6 290mm wheelbase link set (AXI234016) in the rear to get the wheel base correct for the Proline Racing Ford Bronco Body.
Then I painted the axles to match the Bronco that I was mimicking for this build. I used the shorter shocks to get the stance right. The electronics got moved from the side they are normally on to the opposite side so I could install a larger metal gear servo.
I used SCX10 OG servo mounts that I had in my parts bin and made a linkage rod to make the dig work. I painted and detailed the Axial 5.0 motor cover.
Next up was getting the rolling stock built. I used OG Pro-line beadlock wheels and tires. I took the beadlock rings off the front and beadblasted and polished them, then I installed them using Locked Up RC scale hardware.
That about wraps up the chassis for this build. The front and rear bumpers are custom steel units that I fabricated. The body was painted by Pro-line. I took the interior from the JLU kit and trimmed it to fit the Bronco body, and then detailed and painted the interior.
The window nets are made from cooking mats for barbecuing. The scale items are from Pro-line that I painted and installed. The front and rear body mounts are from the JLU kit that I customized and made work with the Bronco body.
The lights are a mix of stock Axial and Pro-line parts.
The wrap up in this build were the bumpers. I used 5/16 mild steel rod for the mounts so I could use the factory mounting style, and the bumper itself is made of 3/16 mild steel rod.
This Bronco was fun to build and hopefully Bailey enjoys it!
