For the last 3 years the United States Radio Controlled Crawler Association, or USRCCA, has held their Nationals in Moab, Utah at Potato Salad Hill. With the rapid growth in RC rock crawling over the last few years these national level events actually started attracting people from around the world. There were 6 Japanese competitors at the 2008 Nationals. USRCCA owners Jason Hensel and John Hubbard recognized there was enough interest to hold an even bigger event then nationals. The idea for the first ever "Worlds" was floating around in Jason and John's minds for a while. But, they needed to get all their ducks in a row before letting it be known to the public. They also knew they had plenty of terrain here in the US to host an event of this magnitude, as well as the support from online vendors and major R/C companies that offer crawler specific products. They just had to enlist the help of a few hardcore volunteers to pull it off. Fast forward to the first ever "Worlds of Rock Crawling". Held at beautiful Donner Ski Ranch in northern California this event was going to have some of the longest/toughest courses ever set for a comp, and the courses didn't disappoint.....................they were brutal!! Here's a few of the highlights from the 2.2 class.NorCal's own Brian Crofts working his 2.2 comp crawler
